What is cCMV?
Congential cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection occurs when a baby is born with cytomegalovirus (CMV). Babies get this virus through the placenta from their mother. About 1 in 200 babies are born with cCMV. Only around 1 in 5 with this virus will be sick or have long term health issues.
What is the study about?
The study is trying to see if children treated with an antiviral medication (Valganciclovir) will have better hearing and language outcomes when compared with children that had no antiviral treatment. As of February 1, 2022 the trial is closed to new enrollments.
